James Higgins Awards 2022

We are pleased to announce the Winner of our Annual James Higgins Health and Safety Awards for 2022. Named in memory of the late and much-loved Jim Higgins who was our Health and Safety Manager for many years the awards mean a great deal to our business and the nominations are carefully reviewed to reach the award winners.

We would also like to congratulate all of the nominees for their valuable contribution to maintaining the high standards associated with our operations.

Individual Award £500   Darren Sandy Has been a constant inspiration to those around him whilst running major projects with a focused approach to Health, Safety and Wellbeing of our team and those working alongside him.


Apprentice Award £250   Freddie Roberts for his attitude to Health and Safety over the last 6 months working on the Drylining Factory Avon-Mouth there is a significant amount of working at height involved. His maturity and ability to understand and contribute to the daily briefings has been noted by the site team.

Team Award £500              HS2 Euston Station The team has worked tirelessly to contribute to and improve the Health and Safety culture on the projects which has the added challenge of interfacing with the public at many workfaces. A special mention going to Ryan Cresswell for his continued efforts.

Special Award £250              Jonathan Coates for saving a lady’s life (her words) when she started to choke whilst returning to her office on the HS2 Project Acton. Jay used his first aid training and should be commended for his actions

Other Nominees of note were Matt Wetheridge, William Noble, Najeem Adediran and Kieran Ives. Not to mention the two teams from Manchester Darrell Wood & Matt Brown and Richard Fowles and Joe McCole.

Filip Rojek was also nominated for the Apprentice Award and was unlucky not to win it this year.

We continue to recognise our workforce for great ESH achievement and attitude. We look forward to watching them achieve great things in 2023.

Birmingham Office Movember Fundraising 2022

Movember is when brave and selfless men around the world grow a moustache, all to raise awareness and funds for mens health.

Congratulations to our Birmingham office who raised over £1,300 for Prostate Cancer UK, an extremely important charity.

It was a great effort despite some very poor moustaches! Well done guys.
