Training for the future

Apprentices - Wingate

Apprentices:

We have an established commitment in bringing young people into the Electrical Contracting industry and have a proud record of success through to the very top in our company. In 2016 we recruited seventeen new apprentice electricians across our UK Business.

We would like to congratulate five of our London based apprentices who recently completed their apprenticeships to become qualified electricians, we now look forward to their progression into supervision and possible management roles throughout their career.

We continue the development of our electricians and carry out regular Health, Safety and Skills training. Pictured below is a recent ‘Safe Isolation’ refresher training session carried out within our London region. Over the next two months this will have been rolled out across all our operating regions.

We would like to thank Martindale for the training and expertise offered during these sessions.

The James Higgins memorial safety awards 2016

James Higgins was the Company’s Health & Safety Manager for 18 years before he sadly passed away in February 2015. He was not only a highly valued colleague but a true friend to us all.

In honour of James’ memory, we created an incentive where members of staff were nominated to receive prizes for promoting Health & Safety initiatives and improvements within the Company.

Terry Taber, our Director for Health & Safety presented the winners with their prizes.

First prize went to Joe Puertollano from our Ashford M&E Operating Centre who received £500 in vouuchers and the winner’s trophy. In joint second place were Rick Fowles (Manchester Operating Centre) and William Fox-O’Brien (London Operating Centre) who both received £250 in vouchers and the runner’s up trophy.

James Higgins memorial - safety awards

James Higgins was the Company’s Health & Safety Manager for 18 years before he sadly passed away in February 2015. He was not only a highly valued colleague but a true friend to us all.

In honour of James’ memory, we created a competition where members of staff were nominated to receive prizes for promoting Health & Safety initiatives and improvements within the Company.

The prize giving event took place on Friday 19 February 2016 at the Belfry Hotel and Golf Complex in the Midlands. Terry Taber, our Director for Health & Safety presented the winners with their prizes.

First prize went to Steve Voke from our Birmingham office who received £500 in vouchers and the winner’s trophy. In joint second place were Ian Brierley and Neil Marshall who both received £250 in vouchers and the runner’s up trophy.

Danny Ayrton (Regional Director for North and Midlands) and David Brierley (Health & Safety Manager) also attended this event.
