This, for our organisation, revolves around our people having the right jobs with the right skills.

How do we go about achieving this? Do we just strive to recruit the right people and hope that they stay with us for as long as we want them, or do we seek to train our people and hope that they stay long enough to use the skills they have been taught?

Neither of these will work for us! Simply hoping for something rarely achieves the right result. You have to work hard to make things happen as people are vital to our current and future success

By focusing our attention on recruiting the right people into identifiable roles, we build on their personal attributes.

To achieve this we utilise:

• Job specifications that target key tasks and manage our expectations

• Inductions that are informative and give an insight into the practices
xxxand procedures of the company

• Appraisals that target performance and identify skills gaps and
xxxtraining requirements

By strengthening our own performance in these areas we are able to identify individuals for onward progression and promotion into key roles, this includes our Apprentices who already benefit from a structured training program.
